At that time, he had become India’s highest wicket-taker in Tests and ODI. West Indies were double contenders in the 1983 world cup, but gave a befitting reply in India. He was the first player to take 200 wickets in ODI. He is the only player in the History of cricket who has taken more than 400 wickets (434) and also scored 5,000 Runs, Making him one of the greatest All Rounders in the history of cricket.

He is the Most successful All Rounder in the India Team. He was the coach of the Indian National Team between September 1999 and September 2000.
